Canada sees spike in rejection of permanent resident applications on compassionate grounds

New concerns are being raised about the future prospects for Canada's undocumented migrants after newly-released data recently tabled in Parliament at the request of the NDP shows there's been a major spike in the country rejecting applications over the last year. Canada allows some people, like migrant workers, who would not usually meet the criteria for permanent residency to apply on humanitarian and compassionate grounds. They're considered on a case-by-case basis according to factors such as how settled someone is here or the best interests of children. As David Akin reports, advocates are warning vulnerable workers are being put at even greater risk.
