Humza Yousaf quits as Scotland’s first minister | BBC News

Scottish National Party leader Humza Yousaf quits, triggering a search for a successor and new first minister. He said he had "underestimated" the level of hurt after ending a power-sharing deal with the Scottish Greens last week. The deal which brought Green ministers into government for the first time anywhere in the UK was designed to last until the next Scottish Parliament election in 2026 but has been scrapped within three years. The tensions between the parties were obvious and increasing, not least following the recent decision to drop some key climate change targets. Mr Yousaf says he will stay on as first minister until the SNP chooses his replacement.
