Grilling Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in question period on Wednesday over his handling of the opioid crisis, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre called Trudeau a “radical idealogue” and said his policies around “safe supply” had led to an increase in drug-related deaths. Trudeau defended his government’s policies toward decriminalization and safe supply, saying it follows a “compassionate, science-based approach.” “We will continue to be there to help people, not imprison them,” he said. “They are helping to kill people,” Poilievre shot back.
