Right whale entangled in Gulf of St. Lawrence
While a North Atlantic right whale has been spotted in Canadian waters for the first time this season, it is entangled in fishing gear in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. It is a critically endangered species, as there are fewer than 360 left on the planet. Since 2017, 40 North Atlantic right whales have died after vessel strikes or entanglements.
