World leaders emphasize de-escalation following reported Israeli strike on Iran

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Friday that the U.S. was not involved in any “offensive operations” following reports of an Israeli strike on Iran, adding that Washington remains committed to de-escalating tensions in the region. “I’m not going to speak to that, except to say that the United States has not been involved in any offensive operations,” Blinken said at a news conference, capping off a gathering of G7 foreign ministers on the southern Italian island of Capri. The White House press secretary also declined to comment on the reported attack. Meanwhile, other world leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, echoed America’s calls for de-escalation. “We need to move toward peace and stability in the region; we need to move to peace and de-escalation. We need not to escalate further,” said Trudeau.
Israel had not commented on the incident as of Friday afternoon and Iran downplayed the event, indicating that it had no plans for retaliation. For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca/news/10434733/g7-joly-iran-israel/
